 Mrs. Carroll - Top Techie Teacher for November! 

Mrs. Carroll is a 2^nd grade teacher at South Hill Elementary.  Being quite the techie, she has developed numerous SMART board lessons.  Not limited to the SMART board, Mrs. Carroll also uses PowerPoint and United Streaming to teach concepts in her class.                      

I visited Mrs. Carroll in her classroom at South Hill Elementary to observe a Math review lesson with a concentration on Math SOL 2.2.  Mrs. Carroll developed a series of SMART board activities in which students practiced testing strategies while demonstrating an understanding of key Math concepts.

The students were engaged and all hands shot straight to the ceiling when I asked which students liked using the SMART board.  One student, Justin, said that he loved using the SMART board because it was like playing.  Another student said that he liked touching the board.  Mrs. Carroll’s use of the interactive whiteboard facilitated students practicing Math skills while allowing them to be interactive, hands on, and having fun!  Don’t forget to check out Mrs. Carroll’s lesson on the TRT Connection.  Way to go, Mrs. Carroll!
