Mecklenburg County High School Celebrates Class of 2026 Signing Day
Mecklenburg County High School proudly celebrated the Class of 2026 during its annual Signing Day ceremony, recognizing students as they committed to their futures through college athletics, military service, career pathways, and continued education opportunities.
Surrounded by family members, coaches, teachers, administrators, military representatives, and supporters, students were honored for the dedication, perseverance, and hard work that led them to this important milestone. The event reflected the many different paths to success represented by the senior class and highlighted the strength of the Phoenix community.
Students recognized during the ceremony included Ryan Black, who committed to Guilford College for football; Reid Blackwell, who committed to the United States Air Force; Harmoni Brogdon, who committed to Old Dominion University for Exercise Science and Pre-Athletic Training; Abram Flanigan, who committed to Norwich University for Men’s Cross Country; Katheryne Garrett, who committed to York College of Pennsylvania for Elementary Education; and Payton George, who committed to the MC Dean Apprenticeship program.
Additional honorees included Christian Lecher, who committed to Roanoke College for Men’s Cross Country and Track & Field; Lauren Lipscomb, who committed to James Madison University for Kinesiology; Abigail Mox, who committed to Virginia Military Institute for Women’s Cross Country and Track & Field while also entering the United States Army; Kalea Nelson, who committed to Old Dominion University for Nursing; and Caylie Nichols, who committed to Hollins University for Women’s Soccer.
The ceremony also recognized Teriyonna Olds and Jaden Williams for their commitments to the United States Army, along with Christopher Pratscher and Russell Sager for their commitments to the United States Marine Corps. Jaleah Pulliam committed to Hollins University for Pre-Health Sciences, Skylar Stevens committed to full-time employment with the Mecklenburg County Administrator’s Office, Samantha Van der Weken committed to Presbyterian College for Women’s Wrestling, and Hannah Vick committed to Liberty University for Business.
Throughout the ceremony, students signed commitment paperwork alongside family members, mentors, coaches, and supporters who helped guide them throughout their educational journeys. From athletic scholarships and academic programs to military enlistments and workforce opportunities, the event showcased the incredible talent, leadership, and determination within the Class of 2026.
The ceremony also included special recognition for military representatives and honored the partnerships between Mecklenburg County Public Schools, colleges and universities, apprenticeship programs, and military organizations that continue to create meaningful opportunities for students after graduation.
Mecklenburg County Public Schools congratulates each of these students and looks forward to seeing the impact they will make in their communities, campuses, careers, and beyond. Their commitment, perseverance, and drive represent the very best of Mecklenburg County High School and the Phoenix spirit.
