Teachers of the Year
We are thrilled to announce that Mrs. Heather Gwaltney has been named the 2026 Teacher of the Year at Clarksville Elementary School! As our dedicated Art teacher, Mrs. Gwaltney was chosen by her colleagues for her unwavering positivity and her willingness to assist everyone around her. A proud graduate of Central of Lunenburg, she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Longwood University and has spent the past 8 years enriching the lives of our students at Mecklenburg County Public Schools. Mrs. Gwaltney has a genuine passion for art and has successfully worked with a diverse range of students, including those in our advanced GATE Art program. Additionally, she spearheads the Sunshine and Hospitality Committee alongside her fellow teachers and serves on the Christian Education Committee at Perseverance Church. Outside of school, she enjoys crafting, drawing, and spending time outdoors. Let’s all take a moment to congratulate Mrs. Gwaltney on this well-deserved recognition!

The Clarksville Elementary Super Staff Member of the for November was Mrs. Brandy Brown! She was chosen by her co-workers for exhibiting the following: Positive attitude: Recognize someone who is a positive attitude ambassador. Comes up with solutions rather than complaints. Lifts others up - no "basement dwellers". Congratualtions, Mrs. Brown!
