Even more exciting, every elementary student will receive a free book to take home and keep. We want our students building home libraries, growing their imaginations, and discovering that reading can take them anywhere.

Whether your little one is just starting out or moving up to the "big kid" school, we can't wait to meet our newest students!

Due to the possibility of hazardous weather tomorrow, Friday, December 5th, and out of an abundance of caution, Schools will be closed and the day will be a remote day for students. One day's worth of homework is being sent home for students to complete and return once schools are back in session. Tomorrow will also be a remote work day for all twelve-month employees. On this special day, every school will be competing for the Power Attendance Award, a recognition that celebrates the importance of showing up—every student, every day. The school with the highest attendance rate will take home the Power Attendance School Banner and earn the honor of displaying the Division Traveling Trophy.
In addition to these awards, MCPS will highlight and recognize students for their engagement, effort, and commitment to learning.

School Board Update | July 28, 2025
This week kicks off our annual bus driver training and safety meetings. The Transportation Department is leading four sessions to accommodate over 100 of our dedicated bus and car drivers, dividing them into smaller groups for a full day of focused training.
We are incredibly grateful for the commitment and care our current drivers bring to the job each day. However, we are still in urgent need of additional drivers, especially substitutes.
If you or someone you know is interested in making a positive impact in our schools and community, please consider joining our transportation team.

On May 2nd, we proudly came together to celebrate the incredible talents and spirit of our student-athletes at the MCPS Special Olympics! From the opening ceremony to the final finish line, the day was filled with joy, determination, and unforgettable moments of sportsmanship.
🌟 Our athletes gave it their all! The support from staff, volunteers, families, and peers made the day truly special. This event is a shining example of what inclusion and community look like in action.
👏 A huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped make this event a success, and especially to our amazing athletes. You continue to inspire us with your strength, courage, and heart!
