South Hill, VA – July 13, 2025 — As the new academic year approaches, Mecklenburg County Public Schools (MCPS) is excited to welcome its newest educators and staff through a dynamic three-day New Hire Orientation from July 29–31, 2025. Designed to support, prepare, and connect new hires, the orientation includes a blend of virtual sessions, in-person training, and school-based onboarding.
The schedule is as follows:
Day 1: Virtual Kickoff
Tuesday, July 29 | 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM
New hires will begin their journey remotely with a kickoff meeting and independent onboarding tasks to introduce them to district expectations, tools, and resources.Day 2: All-Star Training Camp
Wednesday, July 30 | 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Held at South Hill Elementary, this in-person day features rotating, interactive sessions led by MCPS staff. Breakfast and lunch will be provided as participants engage in team-building and learn the essentials of district operations.Day 3: School-Based Orientation
Thursday, July 31 | 12:00 PM – 7:00 PM
New hires will report to their assigned schools for introductions, lunch with their team, and completion of onboarding checklists. The day ends with attendance at the New Teacher Welcome Banquet in South Hill.
