I am honored and proud to be a part of the Mecklenburg County High School community. As I finish my first year as a Phoenix, I cannot help but reflect on all of the exciting, memorable, and rewarding experiences that our students and staff provided. The mission of Mecklenburg County Public Schools is, “Through innovative learning and meaningful experiences, we equip every student with the skills and knowledge to adapt, lead, and succeed.”

The experiences and successes of our students here at MCHS directly reflect our mission statement. Our students shine in and out of the classroom. From classroom assignments and assessments, Standards of Learning (SOL’s), end of course exams, certifications, and more, our students have excelled. It was very rewarding and exciting to see many of our student athletes and athletic teams achieve several milestones and personal best this school year.

Several of our student athletes earned scholarships at the next level. Our students saw success in various clubs and organizations sponsored by one or two of our MCHS faculty members as well. Students continue to earn top honors in a variety of these organizations at the region, state, and national levels. The list goes on.

As we continue to build our culture and traditions here at MCHS, I want to encourage all of our students to consider joining and being actively involved in an extracurricular activity or two this coming school year. Many times it is the friendships and collegial relationships that you build in these organizations that help shape your future. Talk to your guidance counselor, teachers, or administrators to find out what it is that you can do to stay actively engaged at MCHS. There is literally something here for everyone.

Parents, we appreciate the partnership that you provide. Please continue to encourage your child to challenge themselves, make new friends, and work hard during their high school years. We want all of our students to be prepared for either enrollment in college, employment, or enlisting into one of the branches of the military.
