On this special day, every school will be competing for the Power Attendance Award, a recognition that celebrates the importance of showing up—every student, every day. The school with the highest attendance rate will take home the Power Attendance School Banner and earn the honor of displaying the Division Traveling Trophy.
In addition to these awards, MCPS will highlight and recognize students for their engagement, effort, and commitment to learning.

Today at Mecklenburg County High School, the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office kicked off our new Public Safety course with hands-on demonstrations from the Dive Team, Drone Team, Tactical Response Team, K-9 units, and more. This collaboration gives students real-world experience, connects classroom learning to high-demand careers, and strengthens the local workforce pipeline.
By learning directly from professionals who protect and serve, students see the skills, technology, and teamwork that keep our community safe. Thank you to the Sheriff’s Office for investing time, expertise, and equipment in our learners.
