On May 2nd, we proudly came together to celebrate the incredible talents and spirit of our student-athletes at the MCPS Special Olympics! From the opening ceremony to the final finish line, the day was filled with joy, determination, and unforgettable moments of sportsmanship.
🌟 Our athletes gave it their all! The support from staff, volunteers, families, and peers made the day truly special. This event is a shining example of what inclusion and community look like in action.
👏 A huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped make this event a success, and especially to our amazing athletes. You continue to inspire us with your strength, courage, and heart!

As we wrap up the school year, our hearts are full! From learning to read and mastering math facts, to field trips, fun days, and friendships, our students have grown in so many amazing ways. ELEMENTARY STEM CAMP (Rising 4th & 5th Graders)

June 9–13 at Clarksville Elementary and Chase City Elementary (Old BHS)
June 23–27 at LaCrosse Elementary

💻 Activities: Build and code using LEGO bricks, explore new tech tools, and enjoy creative problem-solving.

Join us for this year's Art Export! This year our expo will include our students' coral reef on display, which was made from recycled materials found within our school. Every child has played an important role in this year's installation for the Art EXPO!
Student Highlight:
Te'Yona's artwork is featured on the flyer; she drew and painted the crab on the beach with watercolor paint, having drawn from observation. Her artwork was selected to represent CCES for Mecklenburg's elementary submission for the Virginia School Board Association (VSBA). At the conference, her artwork won 1st Place for the division at the elementary level and will be displayed at the regional office! She will be recognized by the school board at the April 21st meeting, along with the middle and high school students who participated also.
