Last night, Mecklenburg County Public Schools paused to celebrate the people who helped build the story of this division.
The teachers.
The mentors.
The steady voices.
The familiar faces students counted on year after year.
Careers ended. Legacies did not.
Thank you for the years.
Thank you for the sacrifices.
Thank you for the impact that will continue long after retirement.

Congratulations Mecklenburg County High School Class of 2026!

Russell has been actively involved in a wide range of school activities, including Carpentry, DECA, FCA, and AFJROTC. He is also a multi-sport athlete, competing in Cross Country, Wrestling, and Track. His leadership is evident as a team captain in both wrestling and cross country, where he not only pushed himself to succeed but also motivated those around him. His athletic accomplishments include placing 6th in the region for wrestling and 11th in the district for cross country.
Beyond the classroom and athletic field, Russell is committed to serving his community. He works at Los Cocos Mexican Restaurant and volunteers with organizations such as Special Olympics and the South Hill Bread Box. In his free time, he enjoys learning about different languages and cultures.
Academically, Russell has earned Honor Roll recognition and taken dual-enrollment courses through Southside Virginia Community College, including English 111/112 and 245/258.
Following graduation, Russell has enlisted in the United States Marine Corps as an MSG 8156 (Embassy Duty), a highly selective and honorable path. He currently serves as the Guide for the Marine Corps Recruiting Station Petersburg.
Russell Sager exemplifies what it means to be a Phoenix—resilient, driven, and committed to excellence. We are incredibly proud of his accomplishments and look forward to all he will achieve in the future.
