BIG SHOUT OUT TO: The Clarksville Presbyterian Church has graciously brought cookies and brownies for all of our staff at MCHS today to show their appreciation for our school.

Mr Gryder and Mrs Whitten hosted Mrs Maryanne Morgan of Sustainable Wood Innovations in their classes on Wednesday. She spoke to the Middle School students and to the Natural Resources students about the importance of Forestry in our area as well as throughout the Commonwealth. She focused much of her discussion on just how many career opportunities are available in the Forest Industry. She made sure to emphasize that forestry is not just logging but jobs in marketing, IT, finance, biology and many other fields of study are waiting to be filled.
We want to thank her and everyone with SWI for supporting our students.

Last Week .......🔬🩺 In Mrs. Mull's Intro to Health & Medical Sciences class, students participated in a hands-on teamwork simulation attempting to successfully complete a blindfolded “biopsy” on a marshmallow!
With one student acting as the surgeon (blindfolded!) and their partner acting as the surgical nurse, the nurse had to clearly and confidently orchestrate the procedure using only verbal instruction.
This activity powerfully demonstrated that successful patient care depends on collaborative teamwork, trust, and effective communication.

Building the Future: Mecklenburg County High School Celebrates Women in Construction Week 2026
This week, the hallways and workshops of Mecklenburg County High School (MCHS) are buzzing with a specific kind of energy. From the bright arc of a welding torch to the precise measurements of a carpentry square, female students in our Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs are proving that the future of the built environment is diverse, skilled, and "leveled up."
Running from March 1–7, 2026, Women in Construction (WIC) Week celebrates the theme "Level Up. Build Strong.". Led by the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC), the week highlights the vital importance of diversity and career opportunities in a field that is rapidly evolving.
Local Talent, Global Impact
At MCHS, our CTE programs are at the forefront of this industry shift. Whether they are mastering the precision of table saws or learning the intricate art of welding, our female students are not just participating, they are leading.
The significance of their work reflects a national trend:
Unprecedented Growth: Women in construction roles have grown by 45% over the past decade.
A Growing Presence: The share of women in the construction workforce has increased every year since 2012.
Economic Opportunity: WIC Week aims to raise awareness of high-paying, high-impact opportunities available to women in the built environment.
Honoring Tradition, Creating Change
WIC Week has deep roots, first proclaimed in 1960 to honor the founding of NAWIC. By holding this celebration during the first full week of March, it aligns perfectly with Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day on March 8.
At MCHS, we see this history being made every day in our workshops. By fostering mentorship and providing hands-on experience, our CTE programs ensure that our students are ready to contribute to the built environment immediately upon graduation. Seeing our female students excel in welding and carpentry isn't just about filling jobs; it's about strengthening the industry through professional development and different perspectives.

t was messy. It was chaotic. It was fun!
But it was also hands-on learning at its best. Students in Mrs. Messick's photojournalism class were adjusting camera settings, experimenting with light, and capturing motion in a split second. So proud of the creativity and problem-solving we saw!
